Kings Lawn and Landscaping Service is here to make
a living, not to drain yours. We therefore have a number of billing and
cost options to consider when you use us to meet your grounds maintenance/landscaping
needs.
Cost - We
give free estimates and a free lawn analysis to anyone interested in our
services. We give recommendations as to what would look the most professional
to fit within your budget. Cost is based on a variety of factors such
as: terrain; amount of trimming needed; edging; weedeating; mulching;
plants; size of irrigation system if installing one; size of retaining
wall if installing one; accessibility to the site; work location; amount
of leaves removed; etc. We work to provide you professional services to
meet your needs that will be within your budget.
Estimates are always free, but do not include detailed design work plans.
If designing a work plan or blue print is necessary, the free estimate
will be done at the completion of the work plan. If you would like us
to draw up a work plan or design, we offer these services except during
the months of April, May, and June when we are busy outdoors. We have
a minimum charge for detailed, computerized design work of $100.00.
Billing -
We have several ways that we can bill customers for services.
1) For our regular maintenance customers, we leave a self-addressed envelope
at the work site upon completion of our services in which to send in payment
via regular mail (please do not give payments to King's Lawn employees.)
This simplifies the billing process and keeps your account up to date.
For busy customers who come home after dark, it reminds them that we were
by. The envelopes include a perforated stub. These stubs are dated and
we request that our customers keep these stubs as a record of when work
was performed. Please put the stub dates in the memo section of all checks.
This is our preferred method and requires the least amount of paperwork
on our end. We will review your account monthly and a bill will be sent
to you if we feel it necessary to either clarify our services or any missed
payments.
2) Some monthly maintenance customers' billing addresses may be out or
town or the company may require invoices for record keeping. We do not
produce invoices on the job site for our regularly serviced customers.
These invoices will be sent out once a month only to those customers who
do not have a $0.00 balance at the end of the month. We can either mail,
fax, or email this invoice to you. Customers who need to be billed this
way must have prior credit approval.
3) Projects we do not classify as "regular maintenance" are
one-time jobs. These are landscaping projects, retaining walls, irrigation,
aeration, weed control, seeding, etc. Costs for such projects will vary
from contract to contract. Most contracts require half of the cost in
advance to pay for the flowers, shrubs, mulch, and other necessary materials.
The balance will be due at the end of each stage of the project or at
the completion of the entire project, depending on the size of the work
to be done.
Contracts/Lengths
of Service - We do not require extended contracts for our customers.
We can provide services on a monthly basis, or as needed for special jobs.
Many of our commercial customers prefer yearly contracts, which we offer
as well.
We find contracts necessary when it is important to clarify on paper the
work to be performed and how payments are to be made. The contract is
a way of preventing miscommunication and inforcing proper behavior of
both parties. Contracts help to prevent costly law suites with both parties
and offer a more professional way to do business. In many cases we have
done work on a probationary or trial basis as the contract is drawn up,
but this will only work with small jobs that are done on a frequently
repeated basis. Most contracts we write do not have a expiration date.
Either party can expire the contract with a 30 day written notice. In
event that either party requests a contract, a contract is drawn up by
either party to be signed. We will not draw up a contract for less than
$100 a month.
Payment -
This will be done based on a verbal or written contractual agreement with
our customers. Any customer who falls 30-60 days behind will be charged
$3.00 or 3%, whichever is greater. If the late fee is not paid, this fee
will be added to the account each month until it is paid in full. Work
will cease on any customer who is 30-60 days past due on payments. Whether
it is 30 or 60 days will depend on the customer's established line of
credit.
Please make sure that you do not give payments to any workers.
At the end of the day when they are ready to go home, payments can too
easily get missplaced.
Please make all checks payable to either MDP or Mike Pilkington.
King's Lawn and Landscaping Service relies on local, one on one references
from our customers. We therefore seek to provide the best service possible
at the best possible prices. We hope that this information helps clarify
any cost, billing, contract, and payment terms. We look forward to serving
you.
